BEFORE YOUR COSMETIC TATTOO TREATMENT

preparation

You will get much better results when you properly prep. It all starts with a good canvas!

The eyebrow area must be healthy, strong, non-sensitive and non-irritated. Here’s how to get your skin ready for the procedure:

  • You must not be pregnant or breastfeeding unless you can pump and dump for 48 hours.

  • Do not come with a sunburned face.

  • Discontinue any active ingredient skin care products on the brow area 4 weeks prior to treatment eg: Vitamin A/Retinol

  • No Botox 2 weeks’ prior or Filler 4 weeks prior to treatment.

  • If taking Fish oil tablets or Vitamin E stop these two weeks before treatment. (natural blood thinners)

  • No waxing, tinting, laser or electrolysis 1 week prior to treatment.

  • Do not have any type of facial/peel 4 weeks prior to and 4 weeks post treatment.

  • You will need to refrain from excessive sweating (exercise) for one week after treatment.

  • If you have been taking Accutane (Roaccutane) you will need to wait at least 6 months before getting cosmetic tattoo.

  • If using a lash growth serum you will need to cease use and wait 4 weeks before eyeliner tattoo.

  • You must not have eyelash extensions if you are getting eyeliner tattoo.

  • Please get in touch if you have any allergies to anaesthetic or if you are on any major medications.

In order to avoid excessive bleeding and poor colour deposit:

  • Do not drink alcohol 48 hours before your appointment

  • Do not consume coffee 24 hours before your procedure

  • Do not take an aspirin or ibuprofen for pain relief (this thins the blood)

AFTER CARE FOR BROWS

day one

Clean your brows with a damp cotton pad every 30 minutes for the first six hours following treatment, this is to prevent any plasma building up and forming scabs. To dry, gently pat with a clean tissue. DO NOT use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or exfoliants.  Apply a very thin layer of after care product after your last wash/before bed.

Note: Eyeliner generally won’t require blotting, just apply the after care product unless lymph is present.

days two to ten

Gently wash both morning and night using damp clean cotton pads. Pat dry with a clean tissue followed by a very thin (rice grain size) application of after care product. Continue this routine until day ten or until flaking has ceased.

NEVER apply after care on wet or damp brows and be sure not to over-apply, as this will suffocate your skin and delay healing. The product should be barely noticeable on the skin.

important reminders for all cosmetic tattoo

  • Do not wait longer than 8 weeks for your second appointment.

  • Avoid topical makeup and sunscreen on the area for 10 days

  • Smoking and excess alcohol can slow the healing process

  • Keep free of dust, dirt etc.

  • Always use clean hands if touching the treatment area.

  • Be sure to contact your Doctor if there is any possibility of infection in the treatment area.

Remember, with the proper prep and aftercare routine, you will have much better results with your procedure. Your aftercare routine is responsible for 70% of the treatment’s success!!

important note about showering

Limit your showers to 5 minutes so that you do not create too much steam. Keep your face/procedure area out of the water while you wash your body, then, at the end of your shower, wash your hair. Your face should only be getting wet only at the end of the shower.  Avoid excessive rinsing and hot water on the treated area.

what to expect

For somewhere between 3 - 10 days the colour of your brows can look quite strong and ”definite” —

this will soften and lighten as the healing process takes place. Colour may fade by approximately 30 -

50% during the healing process and pigment can sometimes seem to disappear only to resurface a

week or so later, gradually darkening as it settles into the dermis. Crusting and/or peeling can be

normal for some people — every person will experience different healing processes.

Slight swelling and/or redness may be noticed for a few hours following procedure, normally this will be

completely gone within 24 — 48 hours — this will vary between individuals.

Your “perfecting” appointment is essential as it is at this appointment that we ensure your colour and brow shape will remain in place for as long as possible along with making any minor adjustments to shape and colour intensity.
